Guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer comprise the many talents of Chicago’s own Buddy Fambro. A respected musician on the local scene, Buddy’s performance portfolio spans both national and international territories. Most recently, Buddy toured with the Broadway Musical, Come Fly Away, which concluded with a month-long tour in Japan. He was a headliner artist for the 2011 Chicago Jazz Festival on one of the premier stages. Buddy is tapped often for performances by the Jazz Institute of Chicago, including the Guitar Summit and the Tribute to Louis Armstrong featuring John Faddis. He has also participated in the burgeoning Hyde Park Jazz Festival as well as performed with countless artists on The All Star Smooth Jazz Cruises and Smooth Chicago concerts.
Buddy has complemented artist such as Ramsey Lewis and Urban Knights, The Staple Singers, Heather Headley, Michelle Shocked, Ledisi, Maysa, Steve “Silk” Hurley, The Mighty Dells, Nick Colionne, Marion Meadows, Gerald Albright, Otis Clay and many others. His performance history also includes recording sessions, musical theater, church services, concerts and more.
Buddy enjoys collaborating and performing with talented artists, which fuels his passion for creating music. His purpose is to: Create music that inspires the mind, refreshes the body and invigorates the spirit. To his credit, Buddy has released three CDs: Purpose released January 2012, Higher Consciousness (2004) and Duo (2004). Buddy’s most recent CD, Purpose, testifies to his talents as a guitarist, composer, arranger and producer of Contemporary Jazz Music. His musical styling has been compared to guitarists such as Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton and the like.
Buddy is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and a lifetime student of the arts.
